Found it familiar, I ran a wiki and found a more comprehensive history of it (the article described Jobs coming in as separate from Apple bringing in NeXT to its next architecture, while NeXT was Jobs creation). NeXT was closely related to RISC architecture. Jobs also did something different concerning his HR policy.
