This was annoying. My Ipad connected to my wifi router, and signed in to 255.255.0.0 subnet mask, when it should've been class c 255.255.255.0. I lost almost a week of time finding out the solution. It's actually pretty simple.
Change to static IP, sign in to the appropriate class (class c is 255.255.255.0, refer to http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Classful_network). Don't forget to put it the gateway (default is 192.168.1.1) and the DNS (probably the same, but you can use Google's at 8.8.8.8). That's it. Have fun.
