I think it's a good idea to ask leaving customers the reason of their departure.
It's a good idea to cover the reasons. They might still like your products but couldn't get them to work.
Like me, in pre beta Windows 8 version, I couldn't get Skype to run. So I uninstalled it. I really would like to let Skype know about it. It's just, they don't cover that option, nor open ended question, in their survey.
