In the middle of the country's controversy against SMS price that are considered too expensive, Twitter is really the wrong way to go for blogging. I think it is safe to establish that per character in sms vs. in gprs/edge/umts/hsdpa is too expensive to be ever considered as blogging medium.
3 of the social site is already available for mobile web site. Friendster (http://m.friendster.com), facebook (http://m.facebook.com) and multiply (http://m.multiply.com). Even when using my computer, I find it more efficient and not eye straining to divert to the mobile web site. I get what I want and need, no bells and whistles. For pictures, most already offer the small picture version for my mobile.
So, really, I can't see any further reasons to :
1. Go back to "just" a phone, with no outlook/email/calendar/pc sync/hsdpa/touchscreen-is-nice features. Thin is still doable (samsung i-600) without losing the features.
2. Go back to communicating via sms. Really, let's just check our email (http://m.gmail.com, http://m.yahoo.com). It's cheaper.
